Community Celebration
A week-long community celebration marking the opening of the new Bell Hospital and Bell Medical is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 15. The following events are planned:
Monday, September 15:
A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will occur at noon. We hope the public will want to share in the enormous community accomplishment opening a new hospital represents by attending the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Dignitaries from the local, county, state and federal level will be in attendance with public tours of the new facility to follow.
A Donor Recognition event will take place at the new hospital from 6-8 p.m. for all those who have made a contribution to the Bell Foundation. They will be treated to an evening of facility tours, refreshments, snacks and some special surprises.
Tuesday, September 16:
A Senior Citizen Appreciation Celebration is set at the new hospital from 2-5 p.m. Full and abbreviated tours of the hospital and clinics are planned, along with special local entertainment, medical education exhibits, fresh baked goods and coffee from our new kitchen.
Public tours will be given from 6pm-8pm on Tuesday. Everyone is welcome to come and see the new facility.
Wednesday, September 17p:
A Volunteer Reception is scheduled from 12-2 p.m. Current Bell volunteers and Auxiliary members will be given tours of the facility; potential volunteers are invited to come out and learn how they can play a direct role in making their new community hospital a success. There will be treats and refreshments as well!
The Bell Chapel and the Spiritual Meditation Room will be formally dedicated at an event slated from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Local clergy are helping plan the event which promises to be unique and meaningful. In addition, the new Bell Chaplaincy Committee will be introduced. Coffee and baked goods will follow, along with tours of the facility.
Thursday, September 18p:
The Bell Hospital/Bell Medical Employee Picnic will take place from 4-8 p.m. on the grounds of the new Bell Hospital. Our employees, our retirees and their families will surely appreciate the picnic as well as tours of the facility, games and prizes.
Friday, September 19p:
The Second Annual Bell Babies Picnic is slated on the grounds of the new Bell Hospital from 4-8 p.m. Hundreds of Bell Babies of all ages turned out for last year’s picnic and we expect even more this year! Facility tours, games, prizes and give-aways, along with great food and refreshments are all in store.
Saturday, September 20:
Kicking off the development of a Fitness/Wellness Trail will begin at 10 a.m. with a Family Fitness Fun Walk from the current Bell Hospital facility to the new Bell Hospital. This event will serve as a community farewell to the 90-year-old hospital facility, as well as a celebration of the new hospital. New hospital tours will follow.
The final event of the celebration week will be a Black Tie fundraiser, occurring from 7-10 p.m. Saturday.

We offer accessible parking, with key ancillary services and advanced medical technologies just steps away. Our diagnostic and therapeutic services include x-ray, mammography, ultrasound, laboratory, respiratory therapy, and nuclear medicine, plus general/ambulatory surgical units, a coronary care unit, and obstetrics with private birthing suites. We have over 90 physicians on our active and consulting medical staff, with additional offices throughout the Central UP.
Our surgical center performs procedures on a daily basis, from colonoscopies, hysterectomies, gall bladder, total knee and hip replacements, plus arthroscopies, carpel tunnel, cataracts, endoscopies, hernias, tonsils, and vascular.
Bell also offers rehabilitation services, including physical occupational therapy and speech therapy, with our newest addition being our Sports Health Department. Bell Behavioral Services, a department of Bell Hospital, also provides adult, child, and adolescent therapy services, plus substance abuse counseling and psychological assessment.
